UWC Ukraine is part of a global network of 150+ national committees dedicated to promoting UWC’s mission of education for peace and a sustainable future. Our team, consisting of alumni who volunteer their time to our organization, works hard to identify and support young changemakers, ensuring that deserving students have access to the life-changing UWC experience.
1. Promote UWC opportunities
We raise awareness about UWC’s unique educational opportunities across Ukraine, ensuring that students from all backgrounds can learn about and apply to UWC schools and colleges. You can help us on our mission to reach teenagers across the country!
2. Select students with potential
Through a fair and comprehensive selection process, we identify young people who have a changemaker mindset, demonstrate leadership skills, academic potential, and a strong commitment to UWC values. Applications are open each year in late summer and early fall, and any Ukrainian high school student, regardless of where they’re located in the world, is welcome to apply.
3. Support students and families
From the moment a student is selected, we guide them and their families through the preparation process, helping them transition smoothly into the UWC experience. This includes mediating the school acceptance process, assembling the necessary paperwork, determining the scholarship size, and much more. In addition, we run an extensive annual online orientation camp each summer so that the students are prepared for what awaits them on campus. We also provide ongoing support throughout their time at UWC.
4. Fundraise for scholarships
We work to make UWC accessible to students regardless of financial background by fundraising for scholarships, aiming to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent deserving students from attending. We run regular fundraisers and also accept donations throughout the year from anyone who believes in our mission.
5. Build a UWC community
We foster a strong network of UWC alumni, students, and supporters in Ukraine, creating a community of like-minded individuals dedicated to making a difference.
6. Support UWC short courses
Some UWC National Committees offer UWC short courses — intensive programs that provide a taste of the UWC experience without the academic component. These courses bring together young people from diverse backgrounds to explore global issues, develop leadership skills, and form lifelong connections. Each year, UWC Ukraine runs an additional mini-selection process to assemble teams of young Ukrainian people who get to represent our country at the short courses and get a taste of the UWC education. The eligibility criteria are much broader than those of the two-year program, and we welcome you to apply!
